This is an alternative to the extremely popular 5-Day Private Tour of Mythical Peloponnese. It is for those who prefer using a central/single base at a tiptop, unique, upscale hotel and avoid packing and unpacking almost daily.
Why this tour?
☼ To have an authentic Greek experience exploring Greece’s most critical & beautiful region, the Mythical Peloponnese.
☼ We enjoy this private tour of the Peloponnese because we try to be attentive to our visitors’ reactions, emotions, and preferences, making the experience unforgettable for all of us!
☼ We have a personal connection to all the locations we visit.
☼ Great food experiences!
☼ It’s a mixed sightseeing tour, not just “ruins” & cultural/historical sites.
☼ It is a fantastic stay at a unique and very upscale 5-star hotel. We prefer this hotel’s “uniqueness” over its “star rating.”
☼ No packing and unpacking. More relaxed!
☼ You will look forward to enjoying your hotel evenings after exploring during the day.
The included sites are:☼ Corinth Canal, Mycenae, Nafplio town & Epidauros [Ancient Corinth is optional].
☼ Monemvasia is a medieval castle town on a small island linked to the mainland by a short causeway.
☼ Mani, Diros Caves, Vatheia abandoned town, and a dramatic coastline of sleepy fishing coves and fortified villages. The beautiful Limeni villages & Cape Tainaron, the mythical entrance to Hades!
☼ Sparta, Mystras & Olive Oil Museum.
☼ Ancient Olympia, to walk through the impressive ruins of the area where athletes trained and ran in the stadium. You can (alternatively) visit Ancient Messene or (optionally) both.
Still, our itinerary can be very flexible, so here are the additional sites and activities to choose from: Ancient Corinth, Hydra Island, Ancient Messene, Pylos/Methoni, Arcadia Villages & Monasteries, Cave of Lakes, Odontotos Rack railway, wine tasting, …
So, leave noisy, touristy Athens behind and enjoy these five full days, touring the best of the Peloponnese sites privately as locals only do. Explore some UNESCO sites and unique, authentic locations to experience the beauty of the Mythical Peloponnese, the food, the people, and the mountain villages.
The tour is beyond dispute; it is also authentic, very flexible, and best suited for flexible people. We can adjust and add locations depending on your pace and good communication. So, let us know as much as possible about yourselves (likes/dislikes, etc), and we’ll make this tour a great experience!

Private Tour Plan
Ideal tour for those looking to visit some amazing sites without wasting time driving in & out of Athens, but instead overnight & enjoy beautiful, authentic “Greek” locations like Sparta & Mystras, Monemvasia, Nafplio town, and Dimitsana village. They all have great accommodations you can’t experience in the big cities. This is for up to 8 (related only) people, but we can do bigger groups too.
DAY 1: Corinth Canal – Mycenae – Nafplio – Epidaurus
Meet your private driver/tour leader at your hotel for your 8:00 a.m. departure. On a short trip of no more than 1 hour, you enter the Mythical Peloponnese through the Corinth Canal for this “real Greece” experience.
The Corinth Canal is the first stop, followed by MYCENAE, home to some of Greece’s most famous ancient ruins. Wander around the site and museum before hopping back in the vehicle and exploring the “old town” of NAFPLIO, the famous Venetian fortress of Palamidi with its 999 steps. Then head to EPIDAURUS, home to an ancient, beautifully preserved theater.
You can optionally add Ancient Corinth to the itinerary of Day 1 and/or walk down the 999 steps enjoying the most amazing views.
Overnight at Sparta/Mystras.
DAY 2: Monemvasia Castletown
Relaxed breakfast to start day 2, and you can enjoy the great atmosphere of the hotel, the delicacies, and the incredible views of Mystras Castletown. Then, the day is about Monemvasia, just a 1 hour 20 minutes drive away!
Halfway, we will have coffee at a stop by the water in Gytheio town and head to Monemvasia Castletown. Gythio is a beautifully preserved small seaport at the southern tip of the Peloponissos, once the harbor of the battle-hardened inhabitants of ancient Sparta.
You will be at Monemvasia Castle before noon with plenty of time to explore and enjoy the magical atmosphere, the views of the castle, and the water. Monemvasia town/castle is on a small island linked to the mainland by a short causeway. The town walls and many Byzantine churches remain from the medieval period.
After lunch and drinks, we will head back to our unique base near Sparta! Once again, we will overnight at our luxurious, uniquely designed hotel, which has amazing facilities and great people who offer friendly, non-touristy services.
DAY 3: The Mani Peninsula [Diros Caves, Limeni village, Areopolis, Vatheia, Cape Tainaron]
Leaving behind our great hotel once again, we will be driving to the southeastern part of the Peloponnese to explore the MANI Peninsula, one of the wildest and most beautiful areas of Greece. A dramatic coastline of sleepy fishing coves and fortified villages like the beautiful Oitilo, Gerolimenas & Limeni. We will explore Areopolis (the main town of the area), walk through the abandoned town of Vatheia, visit the Diros Caves with a boat, and make it all the way south to Cape Tainaron, one of the Mythical entrances to Hades (underworld). Expect amazing mountain and coastline views all around during our drive.
Vatheia is a small settlement of stone towers and abandoned houses that became a ghost village, but in recent years, it has become one of the must-see destinations in the Mani Peninsula. Next is lunch in one of the stone-built villages where Pirates were a permanent threat.
In between all this or at the end, we will enjoy another food experience before returning to our hidden nest of comfort and relaxation.
DAY 4
Option 1: Ancient Olympia. The birthplace of the Olympics
Note: We can easily substitute Olympia with Messene, but you have heard more about the former! So …
Breakfast and then a 1.30-hour drive to Ancient OLYMPIA to walk through the impressive ruins of the area where athletes trained and ran in the old stadium, just as ancient Olympians did after victory 3,000 years ago. See the temple of Hera and some unbelievable sculptures, such as the statue of Zeus and Hermes of Praxiteles. The city has the rare advantage of not being destroyed or covered by later settlements. Ruins that have withstood the test of time and remain standing for travelers to marvel at.
You can walk through the impressive ruins of the area where athletes trained and ran in the ancient stadium, just as the ancient Olympians did after their victory 3,000 years ago. As a visitor to Olympia, you can run down the original Olympic track and visit the museum. The Olympic Games were held at this location every four years throughout classical antiquity, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.
Option 2: Ancient Messene
Option 2: Ancient Messene (this is not Mycenae of day 1!)
This does not require an extra day. It is an option between Ancient Olympia and Ancient Messene. Selecting one of the two is your option at no extra cost. You can select to do both, creating a longer day at an extra cost (approximately 120 EUR total for two people) and maybe an earlier start. We suggest Messene instead of Olympia!
This is the best (underrated), off-the-radar, and off-the-beaten-path, outstandingly preserved city and site to explore! It is a stunning, genuinely spectacular setting and site in a serene valley, surrounded by the Arcadian Mountains on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other.

In size, form, and preservation, Messene is one of the most important cities of antiquity and one that still has a great deal to offer. It boasts not only religious and public buildings but also imposing fortifications, houses, and funerary monuments.
The spectacular remains uncovered through excavation—mostly in the last thirty years or so—have made it clear that Messene prospered until well into the Roman period.
The city has the rare advantage of not being destroyed or covered by later settlements and being situated in an untouched Mediterranean natural environment par excellence. This landscape combines the mountainous majesty of Delphi and the lowland riverine tranquillity of Olympia,
We can all agree that Ancient Olympia is a “famous” and must-visit place for most people. However, for some, Ancient Messene is -maybe- only second best to the Athens Acropolis and the Parthenon. But it is still even better for the visitor because of the size and the numerous findings! It is not so well-known and not visited because of its remote location, which is not an issue for this multi-day tour! You can do both if you are ready for a more extended day at an extra cost.
DAY 5: Mystras, the Olive Oil Museum of Sparta, and King Leonidas
The Mystras Byzantine ruins are one of the best archaeological sites you can see in the area. Be the knight or princess of your childhood fairytales in the Byzantine town of Mystras. Wander around the castle city and sense through the silence the city’s sheer grandeur: the Palace of the Despots, the Houses of Laskaris and Frangopoulos, the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Dimitrios, and the impressive Monasteries of Our Lady Pantanassa and of Our Lady Perivleptos.
You can visit Sparta’s modern Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil. Here, you can discover everything about olive oil, an essential staple of Greek life.
Finally, we head back to Athens after visiting the statue of King Leonidas.

NAFPLIO OLD TOWN & PALAMIDI FORTRESS (999 STEPS)
ROUND TRIP OF HYDRA BY BOAT
MONEMVASIA CASTLE
MANI PENINSULA
This tour is all about options. Pick, choose, add, and/or substitute!!! You can visit any of the sites listed below by adding an extra day (+ extra cost) or substituting one for another at no additional cost.
Hydra Island
We highly recommend adding an extra day to this tour to visit Hydra Island. This will mean that you spend an extra night at Nafplio town, which can only be … great!
This option allows you to stay two nights in Nafplio town. Hydra is a quick boat ride from the Ermioni peninsula village, a real Greek location with beautiful coastal views.
[Video: Eudaimonia Private Tours – Summer 2024 – Entering the port and main town of Hydra Island]
Ancient Messene (this is not Mycenae of day 1!)
This does not require an extra day. It is an option (alternative) between Ancient Olympia and Ancient Messene. Selecting one of the two is your option at no extra cost. You can select to do both, creating a longer day at an extra cost (approximately 120 EUR total for two people) and maybe an earlier start.

It is not so well-known and not visited because of its remote location, which is not an issue for this multi-day tour! You can do both if you are ready for a more extended day at an extra cost.
Arcadia mountain villages & cliff-hanging monasteries
This is also an extra day (thus 6days/5nights).
We start with breakfast! Then, a 2-hour drive to the Arcadia mountain villages. Dimitsana is one of the most beautiful stone-built villages in central Peloponnese. Firstly, we will visit the Open-Air Water Power Museum, which highlights the importance of water power in traditional society. Focusing on the main pre-industrial techniques that use water to produce a variety of goods, the museum links them to the history and daily life of the local society over the ages.
The first monastery we visit is Moni Amayalon, and then we continue to St. John Bastist’s, the most amazing cliff-hanging monastery in Lousios Gorge. A short hike through the forest makes it easy for anybody to experience this site!
Next is another trendy mountain village for a great lunch: Stemnitsa. Just like Dimitsana, this is also a very popular village for the Greeks! Famous for its jewelry making. Lunch, and we head back to Athens, closing the loop around the Peloponnese to pass the Corinth Canal. We will drop you off at your Athens hotel or (optionally) airport.
Option 4: Cave of Lakes & Odontotos Rack railway
The Mythical Cave of Lakes has something unique that does not exist in other well-known caves. It is a rare creation of nature with mysterious galleries and strange stalactite formations.
We drive on to climb the mountain range towards this area’s top and ski center to enjoy one of our best lunches at the mountain village of Kalavrita. After exploring the village, you will board the ODONTOTOS rack railway, which will take you from the top of the mountain through the Vouraikos Gorge to the coastline and the Corinthian Gulf. This is considered one of the most scenic routes in Greece.
If this option is chosen, it will be the last day of the tour before heading back to Athens. Depending on your plans, we can drive directly to the airport (even if you spend the extra night in the countryside) to catch a flight instead of checking in and out of an Athens hotel and then driving a 1-hour drive to the airport with traffic!
You also have the option for a slight diversion to visit Ancient Corinth.
Option 5: Pylos, Navarino Castle (Niokastro) & Methoni
We will visit Pylos with Neokastro, the beautiful Methoni site, and the Castle.
Pylos is historically also known as Navarino. Pylos has been inhabited since Neolithic times. It was a significant kingdom in Mycenaean Greece, with remains of the so-called “Palace of Nestor” excavated nearby (optional visit), named after Nestor, the king of Pylos in Homer’s Iliad. We visit the Ottoman Neokastro (new castle), which is located southwest of the Navarino bay, on the heights of the city of Pylos.
Next is the Castle of Methoni, a medieval fortification in the port town of Methoni village. The castle occupies the whole area of the cape and the southwestern coast to the small islet, which has also been fortified with an octagonal tower and is protected by the sea on its three sides.
[Eudaimonia Peloponnese Private Tour from Athens, Greece]
These are reminders and additions to things you have already read in other sections.
All our tours include lunch and drinks, and all multi-day tours include quality accommodation. Professional guide, dinner (on multi-day tours), and all kinds of tickets (sites, trains, boats, etc) are not included. You can read more about What is included & excluded in our tours and why! from our FAQs-not-4-DUMMIES.
☼ To keep our vehicles fresh and comfortable, we ask that guests avoid eating or drinking (except water). Water is always available, and we’ll stop along the way as needed if you need to snack.
☼ Fish and seafood are not included in our budget, as their costs cannot be estimated with sufficient accuracy in advance. Pescatarian guests are invited to enjoy our delicious vegetarian cuisine during the tour. In the evenings, we’ll recommend the best spots for fresh seafood so you can experience it at your leisure. Got allergies, several restrictions, or foods you don’t enjoy? Tell us in advance, and we’ll do our best to please you!
☼ After you book, we will ask for some of the following: any food allergies, a single passport number (required by local authorities), names of all passengers, luggage details, pickup/drop-off locations, and a WhatsApp number, which is very helpful during the tour.
☼ Luggage is typically not included on day tours. In other situations (multi-day tours or transfers), we expect a maximum of one checked bag per person [65x40x25 cm or 26x16x10 inches] and a carry-on or backpack. We do not allow luggage on the vehicle’s seats or in your laps to protect both our passengers and our vehicles. If you have additional luggage, please let us know in advance. We can arrange for a larger vehicle or help you store part of it. We may have to cancel if you ... surprise us!
☼ If you are too tall or heavy, we need to know in advance! If we have advance notice, we can arrange the appropriate vehicle. Please use 225 lbs (105 Kg) as the maximum weight you need to inform us of. If in doubt, please let us know your weight and height before you book, and we'll get back to you. It’s not a personal question, but for your own comfort! We can use a larger vehicle if we have advance notice.
☼ An adult must always accompany children (minimum age is 8 years). Please let us know if anyone gets car sick! Greece is not flat!
☼ Due to uneven surfaces, most tours are not suitable for people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users. We apologize for this, but if the sites don't or can't accommodate people with mobility issues, we can't help.
☼ We are flexible on tour duration, so there is no rush during the tour. We also expect you to be reasonable and respect your driver/tour leader's efforts. Sometimes there are specific restrictions (like not missing the sites' closing times during the off-season or catching a train, boat, etc.) which will "dictate" our itinerary/timing and require your full cooperation!

SERVICE FEE: Finally, a service fee of 9% (of the total amount agreed) will also be deducted from any refundable amount, including the 60-day full refund case. This corresponds to the time spent on the client’s booking.
(b) Cancellation Policy for multi-day tours (at least one night stay/overnight or more):
☼ Cancellations made more than 90 days before the scheduled tour date will be fully refunded, minus expenses and service fees as outlined below.
☼ Cancellations made between 90 and 60 days before the scheduled tour date will be refunded 75% of the agreed total tour fee minus expenses and service fees.

☼ Cancellations made 30 days before the scheduled tour date will incur a 100% charge.
EXPENSES: Additionally to the above, but only after the 90-day whole refund period, all of Eudaimonia’s expenses agreed upon through the email exchange of communication concerning or are part of any multi-day tour, such as site tickets, train/boat tickets, hotels booked for the client, or any other bookings (wine tasting, restaurants, etc), will be deducted from any amount to be refunded. This will be approximately 25%-30% of the total tour cost.
SERVICE FEE: Finally, a service fee of 18% of the total amount agreed will also be deducted from any refundable amount, including the 90-day full refund case. This corresponds to the time spent on the client’s booking.
(c) When refunding
We (Eudaimonia) receive your (client) payments, which are always subject to processing/transaction fees charged by the online payments company. These fees are acceptable and are considered our expense if they are not greater than the typical 2,90%, which is why we always suggest you avoid American Express or PayPal. In a case of a refund, this “fees-reduced” amount will be considered as the basis to be partially or fully returned, not the actual amount you have paid. Furthermore, you must expect that our refund amount will be subject to processing/transaction fees charged by the online payments company, thus you will receive a smaller amount than our refund amount. When refunding, all processing fees are to be charged on your (the client’s) side.
(d) Special client-specific arrangements/agreements & cancellation policy:
There may be client-specific payments & bookings (full or partial) agreed upon through e-mail communication mentioned -for example, as “non-refundable” or different from the main cancellation policy “refund dates”. Then, these client-specific agreements will take precedence over any interpretations of this main cancellation policy. Therefore, it is the specific written (email) agreement between each client and Eudaimonia that can only precede this main cancellation policy -if it is different- and determines the cancellation policy for each client.
(e) Other issues:
- Eudaimonia reserves the right to make subtle changes to tour itineraries. Eudaimonia reserves the right to substitute vehicles and/or drivers should they arise. Eudaimonia reserves the right to change or cancel your booking without penalty, except by offering a full refund. Should change and/or cancellation prove necessary we will give you -if possible- reasonable notice & where available, offer you a comparable alternative. If an alternative is unavailable or unacceptable, you will be entitled to a full refund.
- Eudaimonia encourages all clients to communicate as early as possible concerning cancellation issues, which could allow the agency to offer a better refund – partial or complete- to a client despite the standard cancellation policy described in this document. This is a decision not to be discussed with or disputed by the client, and will be made entirely by Eudaimonia to serve the client better, if possible.
- Eudaimonia itineraries are flexible, and if possible, the requirements of clients will be facilitated. Eudaimonia reserves the right to vary, modify, or cancel any itinerary, either partly or wholly. Itineraries published are sample itineraries only and may be amended without notice. Eudaimonia also reserves the right to use alternative vehicles to those advertised.
- Eudaimonia is not responsible for the costs of any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations or rescheduling of any tour departure.
- Bookings can only be used by the client (s) to whom the booking was initially arranged; no other person may use the booking under any circumstances.
- The client will be asked to provide a valid photo and/or passport number for identification, which is required both for our documentation and for local authorities during random police checks.
- Luggage is not included on day tours; only small backpacks are allowed. In other situations (multi-day tours or transfers), we expect a maximum of one checked bag per person [65x40x25 cm or 26x16x10 inches] and a carry-on or backpack. We do not allow luggage on the vehicle’s seats or in the clients’ laps to protect both our passengers and our vehicles. If the clients carry additional luggage, they must let us know in advance. We can arrange for a larger vehicle or help to store part of it. Eudaimonia has the right to cancel if the client shows up with more items or sizes than those listed above.
- If a client or clients are too tall or heavy, we (Eudaimonia) need to know in advance! If we have advance notice, we can arrange the appropriate vehicle. As a rule, assume 225 lbs (105 Kg) as the maximum weight you need to inform us of. If in doubt, Eudaimonia expects the client to inform them of their weight and height before booking. It’s not considered a personal question, but for the clients’ comfort and to ensure a suitable vehicle is used! Eudaimonia can offer to use a larger vehicle if there is advance notice or cancel if the above rule is not followed.
(f) Force majeure
It is only at Eudaimonia’s discretion to refund fully, partly, or not at all if a customer cancels under certain conditions, including even “Force Majeure”, medical, etc. Disputing credit card or other means of payment is not permitted. Eudaimonia strongly recommends that the client purchase travel insurance.
Responsibility Clause
Eudaimonia Private Tours, shall not be or become liable or responsible for any loss, injury, or damage to person, property or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation, or other services resulting directly or indirectly, from acts of God, danger, incident to the sea, fire breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or de facto, wars, thither declared or not, strikes, riots, customs regulations, delays or cancellations, or change of itinerary of schedules.
Baggage is at the owner’s (client’s) risk throughout the tour. Small articles, coats, wraps, cameras, phones, and other hand baggage are entirely under the passenger’s care, who is cautioned about the risk of leaving them in conveyances.
Clients wishing to join a tour or transfer are requested to arrive at the agreed departure point no later than 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time. This applies to all tours and transfers.
The client accepts that certain activities and aspects of Eudaimonia tours are weather-dependent and that under no circumstances can Eudaimonia be held responsible for weather conditions. The client will be informed by email of any potential weather issues and will be asked to decide, in agreement with Eudaimonia, whether to proceed with the tour. In this case, if the tour is completed or attempted, the client will not claim a refund. Rain or even snow is not considered a reason to cancel. Strikes can be grounds for cancellation if they really prevent the tour’s route. Windy weather and port authorities not allowing a boat to run are also reasons to cancel a day tour (but only in the case of a day tour), which is 100% dependent on the boat. A multi-day tour that includes a boat tour will not result in the cancellation of the whole tour, but only in an adjustment or an alternative option to replace the boat tour.
Passport Number
A valid passport must be carried by at least one client when traveling with us. This should be the lead traveler or the person who made the booking/communication, or payment.
Special Requirements and Conditions
At the time of booking, it is the customer’s responsibility to advise us of any special requests and circumstances, such as the need for a child car seat, mobility requirements, passengers who are much taller or heavier than average, food issues, car/boat sickness, excess luggage, etc. Then, we will notify the client in advance if we can accommodate their needs (larger vehicle, alternative options, etc.) and any possible extra costs.
Luggage is not allowed inside the vehicle; it must be stored in the trunk. Even backpacks need to be in the trunk, or it is the passengers’ responsibility to hold them on their laps and avoid scratches to the vehicle’s interior. We ask passengers to “keep their feet on the car’s mats” and not make a mess of the interior, which is kept in excellent condition, as you will see at the start of the tour.
For safety and a comfortable experience, we ask that you let us know in advance the approximate weights/heights of all passengers, as well as the corresponding luggage. This information is used only for vehicle allocation and will remain confidential. Failing to let us know can be grounds for canceling a tour, even when we meet.
Client Behavior
Eudaimonia reserves the right to terminate the transfer if a client’s behavior or conduct is disruptive towards the driver or any of our service providers (hotels, restaurants, etc).
Our drivers/tour leaders are carefully selected individuals who are genuinely polite and well educated. We expect you to treat them with respect. They will be there for you even after their typical 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but please do not take advantage of our “under-promising but over-delivering” attitude. They need their personal time and rest, plus some reporting to us and planning for the following days.
Passengers are forbidden to consume food or any drinks (except water) in our vehicles. Any costs incurred by you or your party due to damages on a tour or transfer must be paid by you (the passenger) or your party at your destination, and we or the supplier will not be liable for these costs.
Eudaimonia operates a strict no-smoking policy on all its vehicles and tours.
Liability
Eudaimonia has no liability for any tour or transfer arrangements, and in particular, for any illness, personal injury, death, or loss of any kind, unless caused by our negligence. Any claim for damages for injury, illness, or death arising from your use of the transfer services must be brought against the operator of the transfer services and will be under the jurisdiction of Greek Law. Eudaimonia operates under a Civil Liability insurance policy as required by Greek Law.
Validity & Disputes
Any disputes will be resolved by the Greek legal system and its laws without the need for any arbitration. If a client is unsuccessful in any legal action instituted against us, the client agrees to pay all our costs, including, but not limited to, legal fees.
The Client agrees to all the above when booking any of Eudaimonia’s tours, transfers, or services.
